Located in the Exarchia neighbourhood, this 25m² apartment is reimagined through a series of subtle yet purposeful interventions that preserve the essence of the original Athenian home. The design focuses on enhancing what already exists, allowing the apartment’s compact scale to become an asset rather than a constraint.

The kitchen and bathroom are fully renovated, using carefully selected materials to introduce a fresh identity while remaining respectful to the apartment’s character. At the heart of the transformation is the replacement of the wall between the living room and the kitchen with a custom steel structure. This new element brings transparency, light, and visual continuity, opening up the space while simultaneously providing the additional storage needed in such a small footprint.

Custom-made pieces are designed to shift and respond to daily needs, enabling the home to seamlessly transition between living, working, and hosting. These flexible elements, combined with the soft flow of daylight enabled by the steel partition, create an unexpected sense of spaciousness.

Through minimal interventions and thoughtful detailing, the project achieves a renewed clarity and warmth—an intimate Athenian apartment adapted to contemporary living without losing its original spirit.

The three-storey apartment, located in the neighborhood of Kolonaki in the city centre of Athens, is a private dwelling comprising the two upper floors and terrace of an apartment building, constructed in the 80s. The renovation aims to transform the existing apartment, focusing on an energy efficiency upgrade. The interior design balances the existing tonality of the dark marble floor with dark aluminum frames, metallic blinds and wooden elements. The wide spaces of the interior interplay with the openings, providing a visual openness and a connection through panoramic views of the city.
